CCN Accomplishments

The Carolina Community Network (CCN I) was funded and established in 2005 as a two-region cancer network to reduce prostate, breast and colorectal cancer disparities among adult African Americans in North Carolina. Comprised of six cores, an administrative core and five resource cores, CCN I conducted successful cancer prevention and treatment activities, increased the number of community members actively involved in clinical trials outreach education and other forms of research, trained new cancer health disparity researchers, and strengthened the community's knowledge of cancer risks, prevention, and the community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach.
